Melissa Widen is Chair of the Board of Personal PAC, a nonpartisan Illinois political action committee that raises money to elect pro-choice candidates to state and local office. Personal PAC believes that decisions about a woman’s reproductive health are extremely private and are best decided by a woman, her doctor, and her conscience. Personal PAC works to recruit and elect pro-choice public officials at all levels of government in Illinois who will protect a woman’s right to make her own decisions about her body. Since 1978, Personal PAC has been giving financial and volunteer support to pro-choice candidates throughout Illinois.
Melissa brings her expertise as an attorney and as a pro-choice advocate to her role as a BYB mentor. She is a volunteer attorney with the ACLU’s Judicial Bypass Coordination Project and a Trustee of the Jewish Women’s Foundation. In March, Melissa received the Chicago Foundation for Women’s 2016 Impact Award for her work on behalf of women and girls.
